Established with the help of NASCAR in 1999, the intent of the Grand Am series was to bring substantial resources to bear in order to bring stability to sports car racing in the US. It has become common for the driver and team entry list to feature some of the most well known and respected racers in the world today. With two different series, and four distinct classes, world renowned racers and amateur club racers are often on track together. 2008 promises to continue the spectacular sports car racing that has become the hallmark of the Grand Am - Rolex series.
