F-1 For 2008
Related: Formula 1
After two races, it looks like the 2008 F-1 season is going to be a bit different from the past few years. Ferrari and McLaren appear to be as strong as usual but BMW Sauber and Williams Toyota look like they have stepped up their game and may be serious front runners this year. Renault appears to be a little off the pace, but whatever you care to think about him, Fernando Alonzo is quite capable of overcoming shortcomings in the car and staying with the front runners.
It is impossible to predict anything two races into the season, but from initial results it looks like 2008 is shaping up to be a very exciting season including strong competition from teams that have been a bit lacking in the past. At first glance, it looks like the lack of electronic driver aids is having a significant impact on the competition. No doubt, this is exactly what F-1 Management wanted to see.
Even more exciting from my viewpoint is an article in the latest AutoWeek regarding the possible return of a U.S. Grand Prix in 2009. I think that the “roval” at Indy is the most uninspired of race courses, as is the case with all of the road courses cobbled up at basic oval racing facilities, but unfortunately, according the above mentioned article, it is the only U.S. facility with the infrastructure already in place to meet FIA standards for an F-1 race. So be it! Bring it back to Indy until someone develops whatever is needed to get the race onto a true road course. Don’t even think about a street course.
F-1 at Indy, traction control or no traction control, night races, whatever captures your focus in F-1, let it all hang out here at RacingInformation.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
